The Gartner Inc. Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies, 2017 reveals three emerging technology megatrends: Artificial intelligence (AI) everywhere, transparently immersive experiences and digital platforms.
These distinct technology trends will enable businesses to be competitive, to survive and to thrive over the next five to 10 years in the digital economy.
In identifying the trends, Gartner looks at technologies that show promise in delivering a high degree of competitive advantage, offering novel customer experience, and links to new business ecosystems.
The eight new technologies figuring in the Hype Cycle this year include 5G, Artificial General Intelligence, Deep Learning, Deep Reinforcement Learning, Digital Twin, Edge Computing, Serverless PaaS and Cognitive Computing.
802.11ax, Affective Computing, Context Brokering, Gesture Control Devices, Data Broker PaaS (dbrPaaS), Micro Data Centers, Natural-Language Question Answering, Personal Analytics, Smart Data Discovery and Virtual Personal Assistants, are the technologies not included in the Hype Cycle.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Everywhere
One of the most disruptive technologies over the next decade will definitely be AI.
